This year, two students of Nel laboratory named Zhang Ziwei and Zhang Jiaona respectively, won the National Award.
Zhang Jiaona graduated from Tianjin University of technology with a master’s degree in 2017. She is one of the top students in the comprehensive evaluation of the second year of postgraduates and has published a regional journal named Design and Mechanism of Embedding Specific Carbon Nanotubes in Sputtered Sandwiched InGaZnO Thin Film Transistors published in Electron Device Letters. The main content of this research is to enhance the performance of a-IGZO TFT, especially its driving ability, by using the high electron transport property of carbon nanotubes. This work proposes a new type of a-IGZO / CNT / a-IGZO (ACA) sandwich channel for TFT, which uses high-purity CNT as a high-speed carrier channel. The mobility achieved in this study is almost twice that of pure a-IGZO TFT. This design provides a potential solution for high-speed TFT applied to advanced electronic devices in the future.
Zhang Ziwei graduated from Jilin University with a master’s degree in 2017. She is one of the top students in the comprehensive evaluation of the second year of postgraduates and has published a regional journal named Improving Performance of All-Carbon-Nanotube Thin-Film Transistors by Low Temperature Supercritical CO2 Fluid Activation in Electron Device Letters. The main content of this research is to improve the comprehensive performance of all carbon nanotube thin film transistors at low temperature by supercritical CO2 fluid (SCCO2). The results show that SCCO2 treatment improves the oxidation level, reduces the defects in the dielectric layer, and removes the impurity molecules adsorbed by carbon nanotubes. As a non-destructive treatment, SCCO2 has great potential in the field of low-temperature flexible electronic devices due to its excellent penetration and solubility.
Talking about the feeling of winning the national scholarship, the two students both said that they could not do without their hard work and the careful guidance of Mrs. Zhang. In terms of experience sharing, Zhang Jiaona said that setting lofty goals and being down-to-earth are the important reasons why she has won the national scholarship for two consecutive years. Zhang Ziwei exclaimed that the scientific research work is not always smooth sailing, failure is a common thing, but as long as not discouraged, there will be a day of success.
